Making Light of Auntie
by X. J. Kennedy
I like to shuffle in my socks
across our scuffy carpet.
And touch Aunt Sue and give her shocks.
I gave her one so sharp it
caused her to shoot right out of her shoes
with WOW a big blue spark!
Now Auntie Sue's the bulb we use
to read by after dark.

We always need a bulb to read by at night, don't we? Thank goodness for book lights. Otherwise, one of us might get a big shock. I love you, sweet girl.

ReplyDeleteI love the poetry and the pictures that you put up.This is my first time on your blog but I'll probably be back. :)
When I was young, I thought it so much fun to scoot across the carpet and "shock" someone after touching them. I like a well lighted area to read in.
