My family and I hate littering. Why do people think it's OK to throw their trash on the ground? We were on a hike today at the Roaring River State Park in Cassville, Missouri. We came to a very beautiful place. See?
Anyway, we got out of the car to take pictures and saw a TON of trash all over the place right above where this picture was taken. Including three tires, a garbage can, a case of beer bottles, an old sweatshirt, two dirty diapers, and a bunch more trash. (SUPER DISGUSTING!) I said, "I wish we had plastic bags to pick it up." Luckily, Mom keeps a thing of WalMart sacks in her trunk. Of course, we got them out and our family picked up trash. Look what we found.
We felt fantastic about helping a pretty place look better. After that we went for a hike up to a spring house. The spring house wasn't so great, but look at what pictures I took.
Missouri really is a beautiful place to live. I'm proud that we left the place nicer than we found it.
Please tell me you don't litter, do you?

Great post Sloane!
ReplyDeleteI wish everyone felt the way you did and then did something about it! Thanks for setting a wonderful example for all of us. You took some great pictures too! Love and Blessings, AK
Sloane,
ReplyDeleteI hate seeing trash too! Good for you for doing the yucky job of picking it all up! I'm glad you got to go to Roaring River -- that's one of my favorite places :)

I'm so proud of you Sloane! I know exactly what you mean. There's nothing more disgusting than litter! You know what I REALLY hate?! When people smoke and throw their cigarette butts out the car window. What's up with that? Do they think they are not littering, and it's okay? Well.....I'm just so happy that people like you and your family love the earth and take time to help keep it beautiful and healthy. Check out my blog and you can see a picture of a fox that's been hanging about our yard for the past couple of days..........love and miss seeing you xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific post, Sloane! You are a very good photographer, too. Love the pics you took.
ReplyDeleteI wish that everyone felt as you do about litter. It wouldn't take long to clean up this earth if everyone would take a minute to do what you and your family did today. :) You are pretty awesome. :)
Sloane, I am so proud of you for what you did. God gave us a wonderful earth to live in and we should take care of it. You did a great job of telling everyone about it. I love you. Grammy
ReplyDeleteHi Sloane Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteYour Grammy Rita asked me to stop by and read your post today. I am clapping for you and your family. I love Roaring River State Park, as we used to come there every year when I was a little girl. We camped out in a place called Table Rock Lake, and we would come to Roaring River State Park to the hatchery. It is one of the most beautiful places on this earth. I always believed it is God's Country. I am so saddened to see that people are throwing their trash out like that.
God Bless you and your family for cleaning it up, and yes leaving it in a better condition than when you found it. I applaude you and your precious family.
I live in Phoenix, AZ. and we do the same thing everytime we hike out into the desert. It is ashame how dirty some people can be.
Happy Easter sweetie. Your Grammy was right, you did an awesome job of cleaning.
Country hugs...Sherry
